“Lord, mold this piece of clay and be my peace within the tempest’s eye, and if you must break before you build, then help my stubborn spirit yield and reassure this butterfly!”

— Mikayla Pinder

Butterfly Wings

There is a divine purpose beneath the surface of every trial and triumph, so trust the gift of God’s sufficient grace as you navigate the stages of metamorphosis and rest in the assurance of knowing that both the sunshine and rain are significant in helping you bloom into something beautiful.

Almost 200 pages of illustrated poetry

“Maybe this darkness isn’t a grave. Maybe it’s the womb of a cocoon, the beginning of something beautiful!”

— Mikayla Pinder

For now I know in part, but I’ll continue to entreat. My glass is dark as now, but on that day, I’ll see complete, and in the meantime, I will worship, and at your feet, I’ll bow. You’ve done too many wonders for me to doubt you now.

Mikayla Pinder

Praise the Lord! I am forgiven! Praise the Lord you wanted me back from the grave to sing your praise for all eternity!

“Above all else, be magnified, Lord of heaven, God of glory. Author of eternal life, forever you alone are worthy of every song our lips exhale with each epiphany of grace. Be lifted high ten thousand times! Come, King Jesus, take your place!”

— Mikayla Pinder

“Motion doesn’t always mean progress, but perhaps these circles aren’t in vain if my life is on the potter’s wheel, and your love outweighs the fears I feel, and there’s purpose ‘neath the pain.”

— Mikayla Pinder

MASTERPIECE

Sometimes it’s hard for me to trust. These puzzle pieces, I adjust again and again, trying to see your picture of my destiny. And I like motion. I can’t just sit, wedged some edges to make them fit, broke some pieces along the way in the struggle to do things my own way. But your ways are so much higher, wilder than my most daring desire. So again, I surrender to your will and give you control of the wheel.

Here is my life and here is my heart. And if you must, yes, break me apart. Melt these walls of doubt within and put me back together again. Like Saul on the road to his destiny, make me blind so that I can see. Mold this stubborn piece of clay and help me trust you all the way with all I am and hope to be. Dear Lord, I give you all of me. Help me learn how to be still. Order my steps in line with your will until your work in me has ceased, until I am your masterpiece.

Our crowns may come with crosses, but the night will be eclipsed by the dawn.

About

Hi there! I'm Mikayla—Texas raised, third in a family of seven kids, and a PK (pastor's kid). I'm passionate about Jesus, my family, and butterflies. When I'm not busy writing (or working), I love spending time at the piano, getting lost in a good book with coffee, or capturing nature on canvas.
